Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

Welcome to our Year 2 class page.

Each child has a reading book and reading record to take home. We will aim to change books daily as needed, so please let me know if a change is overdue. We greatly appreciate your support with regular reading at home. We expect all children to read for at least 10 minutes, five times a week. Please sign your child’s reading record each time they read, as signatures count towards their reading certificates. Regular reading will also support their progress across all areas of the St Mary’s curriculum.

We teach spelling patterns in school and will send home spelling lists that match the words we are covering in class. Please note that we will not be testing the children on these spellings.

Our PE days are Monday and Friday. On these days, please ensure your child brings their PE kit (green PE T-shirt, black shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms, and a green school jumper/cardigan/fleece) in a labelled bag. Please also label trainers, shoes and bags to help avoid mix-ups.

For safeguarding reasons, the gates to the KS1 playground will remain closed until the end of the school day. Please wait by the gate, and once it is opened by a member of staff, enter the playground to collect your child.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to one of us in the playground at the beginning or end of the day. Alternatively, you can leave a message for us to contact you if that is more convenient.
